Keeping System 3 – Sustainable Cattle Marketing
Venneker promotes and markets cattle of husbandry type 3 – this means more space, access to fresh air, and more species-appropriate conditions for each animal. Husbandry type 3 – species-appropriate pig marketing
We promote and market pigs of housing type 3 - for more animal welfare and sustainable agriculture. Housing type 3 "Outdoor Climate" guarantees pigs access to outdoor climate areas, significantly more space than the legal minimum standard, as well as enrichment materials that encourage natural behaviors.

Construction of a wash water treatment plant
The new truck washing facility is equipped with a modern wastewater treatment and water recycling system. Through the biogas production from the organic ingredients of the wash water, we replace fossil fuels and actively improve our CO₂ balance (Corporate Carbon Footprint).
The following advantages are achieved through the wash water treatment and water recycling:
- Reduction of freshwater consumption
- Reduction of water costs
- Reduction of disposal costs for contaminated washing water
- Reduction of energy costs for heating and electricity through biogas utilization
- Sustainable Energy Production (Improvement of the CO₂ Balance)
This facility represents an important step in our efforts to continually reduce resource consumption in all areas of the operation and thereby support our EMAS sustainability goals in a measurable way.
Conversion of the truck fleet to hydrogen drive
Venneker plans to gradually convert its vehicle fleet to hydrogen propulsion. In the long term, the conversion of 50 trucks is targeted – each vehicle covers an average of 140,000 km per year.
In a further project phase, up to 50 trucks are to be converted to fuel cell drive by 2030. An electrolyzer (1.5 MW) could generate around 129,000 kg of hydrogen per year and save up to 1,051 tons of CO₂ per year – operated with certified green electricity, local biogas plants, and PV capacities.
This measure secures our long-term competitiveness in the transport sector and simultaneously reduces dependence on fossil fuels – a concrete contribution to climate neutrality in Muensterland.
